3. BAHIRAWAKANDA VIHARA BUDDHA STATUE
Bahirawakanda Buddha temple is located on hills just 2 kms from the temple of tooth relic. This beautifully sculptured white buddha statue was built in 1972, standing 88 Feet. it is considered as the largest buddha statue in Sri lanka. Bahiwara Buddha statue displays Buddha seated in nirvana pose and can be viewed from the entire city of kandy. Along with this statue there is a buddhist temple in Bahirawakanda Hills. The hill provides a panoramic view of kandy which is one of the best reasons to visit this temple. Honestly kandy inspires me the most in sri lanka, it is considered as the 2nd largest city of Sri lanka followed by Colombo. The local markets here are as much livable as colombo or maybe more. I love this city because the market here stands with great architecture. This city is divided into two parts: New Kandy which is just next to the temple of tooth, where you will find all the new modern market stuff, restaurants, Club, Bar, Banks this market is considered as a new market as this attracts tourists a lot. On the other side is the old kandy market which is just next to the kandy railway station. Which is a bit messy with fruits & Vegetables market and local wholesale shops, Even though the old part of kandy is still worth exploring.
Kandy is the best place to buy souvenirs for your loved one. Prices here are quite reasonable as compare with Colombo

The International Buddhist Museum is the world’s first international Buddhist Museum. If you are a history lover or curious about how Buddhism spread around the world, this museum is the best for you to get all the information. Museum Located inside the Sri Dalada Maligawa or Temple of Tooth Relic and the entrance ticket is included with the Temple of Tooth Relic. Museum is telling everything in brief about how Buddhism came to India and was later adopted by the world. The International Buddhist Museum is the only place where you can discover the Buddhist Culture and the Buddhist inheritance which expanded throughout the world. There are a large number of statues and other exhibits are actually reproductions.The organizers have classified the importance of Buddhism according to the countries. Earlier I thought it could be Boring but later I found it really interesting. It will hardly take you an hour to visit the museum but it would be damn worth visiting.

Dominating the town is kandy lake. A leisurely stroll around it, with a few stops on the lakeside seats. This is one of the pleasant ways in kandy to spend a few hours. I am sure sitting at the side of kandy lake in the evening you will automatically fall in love with this city for sure. Beauty of Temple of tooth on the back, Beautiful Hills in the front, Sounds of Ducks and Birds with the Calm sunset and the Background sound of Prayers inside the temple all over the area will steal your away. Although Habarane is the most popular place for elephant safari rides.

9. EAT INCREDIBLE DOSAI AT BALAJI
Dosai, an indian platter is the most popular dish here in Kandy. Once I start exploring the local markets. I found the Balaji Dosai Restaurant which is the best restaurant to experience the local food. BALAJI DOSAI has a chain of restaurants which has many shops under the same name in kandy. You should definitely try crispy dosai, because they named the entire restaurant after it! or if you’re in the mood for something else, try their soft idli, crispy poori, or finish off with delicious Indian sweets. As this is a fully vegetarian restaurant. It might not be the fanciest of restaurants but it’s clean, comfortable, cheap, and they serve food that is fresh, warm, and delicious. This is what makes them one of the most popular Indian family restaurants in Kandy.

10. HULU RIVER WATERFALL
Hulu River Waterfall is a stunning waterfall that is located in Huluganga Town and is regarded by local villagers as a key part of their heritage. It lies approximately 30 kilometres away from the town of Kandy. Rising to a height of around 75 meters, the surging falls are known to scatter a fine sprinkle of water over the nearby villages of Elliyadda and Aratthana. The location has also seen a rise in popularity with locals.
The Hulu River begins at the Knuckles Mountain Range (or the “Mist-laden Mountain Range”), which is a series of mountains known for being cloaked in thick layers of cloud. Huluganga Falls is one of several waterfalls that originates from a stream within the range. The water continues its journey past the falls and down into the Victoria Reservoir (or Victoria Dam), the tallest dam in Sri Lanka.
In addition to the beauty of the waterfall on its own, the river that feeds and flows from Huluganga Falls is known to stay clear of mud even during periods of rain, mainly due to the rocks, grass and plant life that line the river bed and the generally lower levels of environmental pollution in the area.
